Und ich habe gemerkt, dass Friendica die einzige Fedi-Variante ist, die man ohne Root-Access auf einem Server (das ist viel teurer als der Webspace) haben kann.

in reply to bitpickup • •Für die Friendica-Installation genügt ein normaler Hosting-Vertrag mit ssh-Zugang.
Für eine Mastodon-Instanz musst du in der Lage sein, Befehle als "root" auszuführen (mit sudo). D.h. normalerweise, du hast einen dezidierten Rechner für dich. Das ist viel professioneller als Shared-Hosting und kostet mehr.
Klar: Wenn ich meine Wohnsituation irgendwann dauerhaft geklärt habe und einen Glasfaseranschluss habe, kann ich mir auch einfach eine Kiste in die Wohnung stellen, die 24/7 läuft und eine feste IP hat.
Aktuell ist das keine Variante für mich.
